Cornell University Athletics - Gymnastics Looks To Put It All Together ...

ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Cornell gymnastics team has comfortably been over 190.000 in four of its first five meets. In many years past, the Big Red would be rounding into form by the time it started posting that score consistently. Now, Cornell wants more.

The Big Red gymnastics squad will be looking to surpass its season high when it travels to Towson for the Shelli Calloway Invitational on Sunday, Feb. 17 at 1 p.m. at the Towson Center in Towson, Md. The Big Red will compete against the Tigers for the second time in three weeks, in addition to both Ursinus and Temple.

Cornell is coming off a solid 190.625 afternoon in winning the Big Red Invitational this past weekend despite counting three falls. On Senior Day, honored senior McKenna Archer had the top score on both vault (9.750) and beam (9.650), while classmate Sarah Hein was second on vault (9.650) and fith on bars (9.625). Team captain Ashley Maher placed seventh with a 9.425 on bars.

With its sixth meet of the year coming up, Cornell will post its first regional qualifying score. With a season high of 191.800 and a straight average of 190.480, the Big Red currently ranks sixth among its USAG competitors in search of a spot at the championship meet later this season.
